I have moved my uk equity income fund holdings into VWRL after speaking with Ramin at Pension Craft to narrow down my long term goals with investing and how to sell portion of portfolio if needed rather than relying souly on high dividend yield stock funds. Recently these had been a safer bet that international stocks less volitile and paying nearly 6-7% yield. I’m back on the index fund track and will see where this goes in the coming years.
The UK government announced in its autum budget the cut in Dvidiend allowance from £2,000 a year down to £1,000 in 2023 and £500 in 2024 completely killing part of my FIRE plan to use a small portion of dividends to make this up. Also on the chopping block is capital gains tax (CGT) which is being slashed from £12,300 down to £6,000 from 2023 killing another FIRE safe heaven.
