Target net wealth for a 3% safe withdrawel of income is 1,000k+ GBP. On the conservative side to weather unforseen economic events as seen in recent years with Covid, Invasion of Ukraine and the preceeding Energy crisis across Europe in part contributing to surging inflation seen in 2022.
In order to understand how close to Financial Indepdence Retire Early (FIRE) I am I will update this table on forecasted costs/budgeted expenses based on my current life-style. I will do this Every April/May each year as the new tax year starts in the United Kingdom.
As ever FIRE helps only once you have understood what you want from life. Design the life you dream of and invest to get you there.
I have been tracking my journey seriously on FIRE since November 2020 using the Mad Fientists lab tool – Although his podcast was the origonal entry point into this journey and gave me the inspieration and drive to recognise and accept this was possible given dedication and persiveriance.
Graph as of November 2022.
By his lab calculation I should be on track for Fire within the next five years based on growth and assumptions the expenses of $2500 remains relatively flat. My nervousness is that mortgage rates in the UK will continue to rise rapidly and outpace earnings and ability to maintain high levered debt 75-95% LTV mortgages which I currently fall into the camp of!
In line with this page I plan to update this graph yearly in April/May once the new tax year in the UK starts.
